Dear parents and grade 10 students
It is with great pleasure that I send you this letter to tell you more about our exciting AVODAHprogram. This program is for boys and girls currently in grade 10 and has been designed with their unique needs in mind. Each element serves a purpose that will enable the program to be extremely well rounded so that there is something for everyone.
We have devised a program that allows these campers more independence than our younger campers. For example Avodah participants have computer and telephone privileges at specified times, they have many more outings and they sleep in a separate part of the machane (camp). This begins the training process for the following summer when they can apply as staff at Moshava. Our Avodah program has 4 main goals.
The AVODAH program will enable the participants to learn ‘hadracha’. These are leadership skills that will be taught by various upper staff and will be a hands-on training. Participants will get a taste of what it is like to work in the different facets of camp including working in the bunks with campers of all ages. They will also be taught how to plan and run programs that they will then execute for the various aged campers.
The AVODAH program will enable the participants to work on a building project. In the past Avodah has built wonderful additions to the camp such as the Marp, outdoor Beit Kneset, gazebos. These projects have been under the directorship of our very capable superintendant, Vince Robichault. After the completion of the project they will feel a sense of great accomplishment, as well as mastering building skills.
The AVODAH program will enable the participants to partake in an exciting adventure outingin a national state park. Day excursions may include hiking, horseback riding, boating and nature trails. Participants will camp out for a few nights and enjoy these thrilling day outings. This is a great opportunity to appreciate nature, while creating amazing memories with good friends.
The AVODAH program will enable the participants to enjoy the fun activitiesthat Camp Moshava has to offer on its site. Waterskiing, swimming, basketball, ropes course, arts and crafts and more will all be part of the schedule to ensure that the days are well rounded and active for all.
So now that you have a glimpse into the four dimensions of the AVODAH 2012 program, I hope you will consider joining us. The price is unbeatable for a 6 week program. Many past ‘Avodahniks’ have confided in me that it was truly the best summer experience they ever had. Due to the nature of this program, space is limited. Registration is on now, so don’t delay.
Sincerely,
Vicky Shizgal
Director, Camp Moshava
