A SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPER
The Goal of Camp Moshava’s Acheinu Special Needs Program-
Often special needs children attend a special education class within the public school system. They do not have the basic luxury of participating in the Jewish school system and therefore the gaps between them and their peers widen. Children with special needs gain immeasurably from the Camp environment, Jewish experiences and shabatot; learning, social and other numerous skills which are offered in a unique setting. The role models provided by the rest of the camp present precious opportunities rarely available to these children.
Just as important: everyone else benefits as well, in many respects. The program immediately builds bonds that will continue during the year. Focusing on the long term, it also offers an essential experience to the other campers, who will be our community’s future leaders, doctors, lawyers, teachers, Rabbis and neighbors.
